Window Covering Cord Safety

Cords on window coverings can be a strangulation hazard for young children. Follow these simple steps to make every room safer, and ask us about cord-free options.

Safety checklist

  • Keep all cords out of reach of children
  • Move cribs, beds, high chairs and furniture away from windows
  • Do not let children play with window covering cords
  • Use any safety devices supplied with your product as instructed
  • Check older window coverings and replace them if cords cannot be secured

Consider cord-free options

In children’s rooms and family spaces, cord-free operation removes the risk of loose cords. Ask about motorized window coverings and compare control systems during your consultation. In Canada, corded window coverings are covered by Health Canada’s Corded Window Coverings Regulations.
