Care & Cleaning for Blinds, Shades & Shutters

A little regular care keeps your window coverings looking good and working smoothly. Always follow the care instructions for your specific product, and ask us if you are unsure.

Cleaning tips by product

Shutters

Dust louvres regularly with a soft, dry cloth or duster. For vinyl shutters, wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking wood or hardwood shutters.

Wood and faux wood blinds

Close the slats and dust with a soft cloth or a vacuum brush attachment, then repeat with the slats tilted the other way. Wipe faux wood with a damp cloth when needed.

Fabric shades

Dust gently or use a vacuum on low with a brush attachment. Spot clean only as directed for the fabric, and test any cleaner on a hidden area first.

Vertical blinds and panels

Dust vanes and panels from top to bottom. Wipe PVC vanes with a damp cloth; follow fabric care guidance for fabric panels.

Motorized coverings

Keep battery-powered motors charged or replace batteries as recommended, and keep the area around motors and sensors free of dust.
