Some shades, including our Roman shades, are available with a cord lock or a cord loop system. Here is how each one works and what to consider before you choose.
Pulling the cord raises or lowers the shade, and the lock holds it at the height you choose. A simple, familiar way to operate a shade.
Cord loop
A continuous loop of cord is pulled to raise or lower the shade, so the shade can be adjusted smoothly without a loose cord end.
Cord-free options
If you would prefer no cords at the window, ask about motorized operation for the products you are considering.
Use cords safely
Window covering cords can be a strangulation hazard for young children. Keep cords out of reach and move cribs, beds and furniture away from windows. Read our window covering safety guide for more tips.
